「私達が働くこと」を通じて何か会社に貢献できないだろうか・・・
そんな思いから始まった社会奉仕活動の第1弾です。
日々の営業活動通じて会社に貢献すると言う気持ちを持ち続け、
今後とも様々な支援活動に取り組んでまいります。
子供たちの学ぶ校舎の多くが村の住民達の手によって竹や木材、植物の葉で作られており、植物の腐敗や年々進んでいく老朽化が深刻であり、カンボジアの子ども達は危険な状況下での勉学を余儀なくされています。
この問題に対して、カンボジアの教育省は2007年〜2010年までに、小学校において新たに15,000教室が必要であると報告しています。
また、カンボジアでは校舎不足と共に教員不足も問題であり午前と午後で生徒を入れ替える二部制を取って対応するなど教育の環境は非常に劣悪であると言えます。
弊社が建設の支援をした「ソバ・モン」小学校は、世界遺産として有名なアンコール・ワットがあるシェムリアップ州にあります。
世界的観光地であるアンコールワットの周辺は観光客向けのホテルやレストランなど多くあり大変賑わっています。
目的地である小学校までは賑やかな州都から、途中舗装されてない悪路を35km車で走行し約2時間の道のりです。
写真の道路はもともと牛車用に作られており、雨季には洪水状態で通行が困難な為1月〜4月頃までの乾期の時期のみ通行が可能です。

寄贈式典にはシェリムアップ州の代表をはじめ行政関係者など多くの方の参列を頂き、弊社は感謝状と共にメダルの授与を受け、州知事と弊社代表による譲渡契約書の調印も取り行われました。
子どもたちは、校舎を大切に使うこと、この学校で一生懸命勉強に励むことを誓ってくれました。
式典終了後、教室で生徒全員に「将来の夢」について答えてもらいました。生徒たちの答えは「教師」「看護婦」「医者」のいずれしかありませんでした。
子供たちの憧れの職業なのかもしれませんが、子供たちの
多くは今まで教育を受けてきておらず、外部の情報が入ってくることがあまり無い為に、他の職業を知らないということもまた現実のようです。
教育を受けることで、世の中にある多くの職業を知り彼らの夢も広がっていく・・・、
それは大変すばらしいことであり、私達の事業を通じて間接的にこのようなお手伝いが出来ることをとても嬉しく思えた瞬間でありました。

僕は新年度に3年生に進級します。
僕は綺麗で快適な机や椅子のあるコンクリート製の新校舎で勉強できることをとても嬉しく思います。
僕はこの学校の為に3部屋の校舎と4部屋のトイレ、ポンプ式井戸をご支援頂いた株式会社トーマンコーポレーションの皆さんにとても感謝しています。
SVAの現地スタッフの方が実地して下さったトイレ研修会ではトイレの使い方となぜトイレが必要なのかについて知ることが出来て僕は嬉しいです。
最後に、僕は支援してくださった皆様に感謝し、
皆様が健康で長生きしてくださることをお祈りしています。

We‘ve been having a thought that we would like to share what we gained from our corporate activities with people who are deprived of even minimum requirements to be happy without any conditions. Based on the above belief, we made contributions to make an elementary school in Cambodia in 2010 through NGO, Shanti Volunteer Association (SVA) having an office in Cambodia (http://sva.or.jp/english/) and a health center for children in Myanmar in 2012 through another NGO, Save the Children JAPAN (http://www.savechildren.or.jp/jpnem/eng/). In 2014, another donation was made to build a new school building for the orphan girls to become nuns through SVA once more.
Myat Theingi Parahita Orphan home & Buddhist nunnery was established in Pyay having a population of 200,000, 300 km north from Yangon City, the capital of Myanmar in 2011.

About 106 students aged from 7 to 17 have been studying at the
school owned by the temple. The reason why they live apart from
families are various, for example, because of poorness, negligence by
parents and war/ethnic conflicts in the northern part of the country.
All foods and clothes are covered by donations and religious
mendicancy as the other monasteries in Myanmar. The students wake
up at 4:30am, go out as wondering mendicants according to Buddhist
sutras, come back and finally start studying from 9am (to 3pm). After
graduation, some of them become a nun and the others go out into
the world.
The construction of the new two-storied school building (7.5m length×20.4m width×6m height) was started in September 2014 and was completed in January 2015. In the future, it will be able to accommodate about 300 students in 9 classrooms.
After the presentation ceremony, we handed out two notebooks, three pencils and a ruler to each student and took memorial pictures.

When we left at the end of the event, the principal at a grateful glance said, “What they become someone who can help society in the future is to show their gratitude to you.” I was confident in the success of school to build up students’ respectable characters.
We did find fulfillment and went back to Yangon City (It took 6 hour though…).
